VCR Little Casette Door stuck open!

Hello, I use a VCR to change channels on my TV, as I lost my TV remote and the Universal one doesn't work, so if I cannot fix this, I'm losing both the VCR and the TV...     :).

When I inserted a casette to view it, as usual...suddently for the first time that little door didn't close and the casette got stuck insidewith the door open!  I managed to pull it out with a clothes hanger (LOL!), tried it on a neighbor's VCR and it was ok though.

However, that little VCR door never closed again so I can't insert any more casettes.  Again, I used the good old hanger to pry it open, but it bounces right back to the roof of the VCR where it stays put.  I hope I explained it clearly enough?  My question:

Is there a way I could pry open that little door without it bouncing back on me so I can continue to use the VCR?

Thanks so very much for any suggestions!   Adela

The little door is staying

The little door is staying open because there is a fault with the mechanical mechainsm on the VCR.  Most likely a gear or plastic or nylon arm broke a tooth or jumped out of alighnment.  You will need a mechanical mechainsm  manual to check out this device. At this point it probably is not worth repair as most manufacturers do not supply replacement parts for these VCR any more.  Good Luck and let us know how if you got the VCR repaired.
