Everytime you hit the power button on the TV it pops I can see a spark coming from a small black box. It looks as though it is grounding out inside. The chasis number is PTK169PGB.
The High voltage block is arching to the ground. If you have no TV repair experience please call in a pro as there is 30,000 plus volts in the high voltage block and can cause serious injury if you do something that should not be done. and I cannot explain without seeing the set how to replace the block, as some you need to twist the wires a little and pull straight up on and you will also need to discharge the CRTs before attempting this repair. Good Luck and keep us informed of the repair of this Tv set.
Ok who does anyone know anyone in the Topeka, Kansas area that could do this for cheap or does anyone have the know how to walk me through this. Thanks
I will get the service manual tonight and yes I repair computers and I have basic's of electronics in technical school, so not a lot but I am familiar with most things. What is your email address?
It is on page 1-10, how to remove the leads on the HV splitter. 205064 is the part number for the High Voltage block/spitter and is available HERE. Click onto the picture there to see the block more clearly. Make sure it is the block that is bad and not the wire going to it. The wires are available and are on the last page of the entire parts list.
Got the part put it in. However now I am getting a screen and it is still clicking the menu shows up but it flickers do I just not have the cables into the splitter quite right?
Ok got it running although all I have is black and white if I go into menu and convergence I can see others colors although it's nopt a clear screen I have read other forums and they say don't touch the front unless you know what your doing what can I do
MMMM No color. Now we get to a point of why? Did you inadvertantly knock loose a plug on the board somewhere around where you were working? Double check and make sure, and not just a look at the plugs but also touch them and make sure they are all seating into their sockets correctly.
