My KV-36XBR250 purchased in 2000 has suddenly become incompatible with the Comcast Digital cable signal. It was fine the last 2 years we had digital service. Then Adelphia cable was bought by Comcast. No change in the equipment, but one day all the analog channels were compressed vertically...more so than a wide screen image. Everything is short and fat! The digital channels are fine. The analog channels are fine is we bypass the box and use Antenna 2. But that is a pain to switch back and forth and we also don't get the program guide from the digital service. Comcast cable gave us a different kind of digital box. That solved the compression issue, but now all the channels have a grainy effect! Again, the picture is beautiful if we bypass the box. Any suggestions? There are no settings to change that have helped either problem. Comcast accepts no more responsibility and Sony accepts no responsibility. HELP!
No problem. May be some configuration settings on the box that needs a bit of work. There's menus not easily findable that may need some tweaking, but it depends on what box you have.
I assume they brought you a Motorola Digital Cable box. Is it an HD one? Can you tell me what model?
Also, how is the box connected to your TV? There's composite video (yellow), S-Video (round with pins), or component video (red, green, and blue cables).
The digital cable box is Scientific Atlanta Explorer HD 8300.
I know we didn't use s-video but I can't get to the back of the TV until my husband comes home. I know we didn't have s-video. I vagely remember my husband saying something about yellow a while back, but what do I know??? Thanks for your help.
