Samsung Digimax 530

I have a new (less than a month old) Samsung Digimax 530 camera. It comes with, and operates on, 2 AA batteries; or, you can buy the rechargeable battery which I intend to do.

I've been operating the camera with the AA batteries and expected them to drain quickly, especially when running the video component on the camera, BUT it has deteriorated to where I put fresh batteries in, snap maybe 2 pictures, and the camera shuts off for "low battery".

I know these batteries are not low or dead because when I first started using the camera, I could get several photo shoots out of it before the batteries would register as low.

I don't know why, but the batteries simply are not registering as full power on the camera when they are replaced.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Are the batteries that are

Are the batteries that are now not working from the same package of batteries that worked originally? Are they the same brand and type?

Hmmmm......I'm not sure what brand came with the camera. I replaced those with Energizers when they ran out, then Energizers Industrial, now back to regular Energizers.

Well, the first thing that I would do is try a different brand of battery. I usually have good luck with Energizer, but your camera may just not like them. Try Duracell, or the Radio Shack brand Enercell. It may be a long shot, but you have to start somewhere.

Post back with your results.

Are these rechargable batteries that you've been recharging each time when this happens?

No, I don't have the

No, I don't have the rechargeable battery yet. These are regular AA batteries like the ones that originally came with the camera.

When I got the camera, I put the batteries in and used the camera for a few days. When they registered low, I replaced them with fresh batteries and again used the camera for a few days.

However, each time I replaced the batteries, they lasted less and less time, and the last two times I put new batteries in the camera's battery level didn't register full power. It's like the camera isn't recognizing that new batteries have been put in.

I had a remote control that

I had a remote control that had a short in the device that caused batteries to drain faster than they otherwise should have. That might be the cause. Since it's new, you can always return it to where you bought it and get a new one as it should be under warranty. Depending upon where you bought it, they may come up with an excuse that you need to use the "proper" Samsung rechargable battery in order for the device to work properly. If so, since you're getting the battery anyway, you can try it out and see if you get the same behavior.
