JVC TH-C3

Hi' I'm still trying to figure out why I can't get sound through my powered sub for this unit. Headphones plugged into the main unit works but I can't seem to get sound to my sub. Tried new sub still nothing and cable to sub is good. Anyone have a schematic or suggestion? Please help!! It's a JVC TH-C3 home entertainment unit.

The only thing I can suggest

The only thing I can suggest is make sure your in the proper Decode mode, and or the sourch mode.  If it does not work after you check all of this, take the unit back.  Or has it ever worked?  How old is the set-up?

Randy
The unit is a couple years

The unit is a couple years old 2 or so and worked fine. Just turned it on one day and no sound. I've checked the source mode and still nothing. Not sure what you mean by Decode mode?

No if it did work then there

No if it did work then there is a problem inside the unit.  A circuit problem.  Since that is a solid state unit you really should not tinker with it as it may be a minotr problem and you could mess it up more, unless of course you have solid state repair experience.

I am not familiar with your

I am not familiar with your specific model so I'll need a little info. First, is the sub plugged into the wall? The cable that goes to the sub has how many connections. Is it an RCA type cable similar to the ones connecting your CD or DVD? Dan

This  model is a home theater

This  model is a home theater that plays cd dvd and holds 5 discs. Yes the sub does plug into the wall. the only other cable going from the sub to the player isn't RCA it has a round plug-in connector with 8 pins inside at each end. All surround speakers connect to the sub. Thanks

Thanks for the update.  The

Thanks for the update.  The connection you described suggests that the signals from the main unit are signal level not speaker level.  I'll try and get more info, but this looks like a repair requiring an experienced tech.  If the problem is a switching problem or at the pre-amp level, it is most likely to involve surface mounted components.  These are not things to be attempted without experience.  Let me search a bit and I'll update this as soon as I can.

Dan I looked this unit up and it is connected with an s-video plug so yes the unit is a line level input.

Replace the digital

Replace the digital transistor for starts.  That may cure the problem.  I am limited to a slow speed connection for a while, so I have been unsuccessful with the download.  Try the above first and keep us posted.
