Want to write an article for TechLore, but need help?

TechLore is a site that is only as strong as the community members that support it. We've found that many have great interest in writing about their experiences or opinions for TechLore, but aren't sure where to start or feel intimidated by the articles already on the site. We'd like to extend an open invitation to help anyone who wishes to write an article for the community.

The electronics space is huge, so the things to write about are virtually endless. Given the vast array of topics, anyone who wishes to bounce an idea off of us first will get our personal feedback and assistance.

Also, many out there may or may not have formal writing skills, and are hesitant to submit anything to the community because they feel it's not good enough, or may have some grammar mistakes. If this is your only hurdle, we're also here to help with that as well. We're more than willing to preview, correct, and make comments on an article before it is published to the community. In fact, this ability is already built into the platform, but we're willing to help through any reasonable means.

Here's some ways to get help:

  1. Write an article to the site by clicking on "Post New Article" under "Articles" in the nav bar. While writing your article, add a line at the top asking for editorial assistance. Once you create your article, press "preview" to view it. Pressing "preview" also saves it as a draft in our system, so you can always walk away and come back to it at a later time. Press "edit" to make any changes. Once done, press "submit".

Pressing "submit" will not send the article to the community, but to a special page that goes to the editorial staff for preview. If you make a request for assistance, a member of the TechLore staff will type comments in italic text at the top of the submitted article, and send the article back to your draft folder. This can be accessed by clicking on "My Library" under "My Account" in the nav bar. Click on the "My Unpublished Items" tab to veiw your article.

If you would like us to fix grammar or spelling mistakes, just make the request at the top of the article. If you would like us to help you in formatting the article, just request it at the top of the article. In the future, we are hoping to create a special discussion page where you and the editor can communicate in a forum like environment, but have it unaccessible to the outside community. We will announce when this feature is available.

When you are comfortable with your article, just resubmit it with a note that you think it's ready. We will clear any remaining comments and publish.

  2. If you would prefer to use e-mail as the primary form of communication, send us a note by using the feedback page (choose "other in the drop down box". Please be sure your spam filtering or bulk mail settings will allow you to recieve e-mail from TechLore. Additional instructions will be provided in the e-mail.

If you have further questions, please post your comments to this forum thread.
