V-Chip Password is Preset on Polaroid LCD TV

A TechLore "Ask the Experts" Question...

Question:

I purchased a "polaroid LCD-2000" LCD TV from Best Buy. This was a display model. The v-chip parental control's password was previously set and we do not know the password. How do we re-set or default?

Answer:

Polaroid sets a defualt password for the V-Chip at the factory. The default is 1111, as listed on page 21 of the manual. I would recommend you either change the password to one that you'll remember, or disable the V-Chip entirely.

If you did not get a manual with the TV, you can download it here. The TV is listed as an LCD-2050.

Since it was a display model, the password may have been changed by a store employee. If this is the case, go to the change password screen, and use 5050 for the old password. This should initialize whatever you put in for the new password.
