My Convergence Is Off, and I Can't Adjust

A TechLore "Ask the Experts" Question...

Question:

I have a Mitsubishi rear projection tv, model ts-5053 I am able to align the red and blue horizontal and vertical colors, but my problem is that the colors are off in a diagonal way. How can I adjust that?

Answer:

The ability for the user to adjust convergence is limited on older rear-projection TVs. Most likely, you only have a center crosshair, or only a few convergence points available. On older sets, when the convergence begins to skew diagonally, it usually happens toward the edges of the screen.

In these cases it is usually impossible for the end user to adjust, and will need to be adjusted by an authorized servicer. Technicians have special adjustments they can access to help correct these kinds of issues.
