Altec Lansing iPod Mini Speakers: Cool, but....

The Altec Lansing inMotion is custom built for the iPod Mini. It offers a dock style connection for your Mini, so that the Mini sits vertical, between the two speakers. Volume is controlled by the speakers, and not the Mini. Other than that, there not many features to this speaker set. Power is drawn from either an external AC adapter or 4 AA batteries.

While slim on features, the inMotion is not slim on sound. Simply plug in your Mini and you have robust boom box sound from such a small package. It has no problem filled a fairly large room with rich sound.

Control is a bit of a problem, because of the orientation of the iPod, but it's still usable.

Having said all of that, I am still hard pressed to find a use for the inMotion. I wouldn't use it at home, because I don't use my iPod at home & I have a better sound system. I can't use it on the road, because I have either a car stereo or I am on public transportation and use headphones. I can't use it at the office because it would annoy people.

So, I can use it in some places here and there, and I would pay $60 for that option.

The problem is that the inMotion costs $129.00. I just can't justify it.
