Television and Home Theater

Hi Everyone! 

A friend gave me her Panasonic TV/VCR combo, model # PV-C2061, when she got a tape stuck in it.    She had poked all kinds of stuff into the tape area, trying to get the tape out.  When none of that worked, she just went out and bought a new TV---must be nice!

I have a Zenith TV SLS1917S.When I turn power off with the remote or on/off switch, the picture goes off but the sound stays on. I have to pull the plug to kill it. Any help would be appreciated. I have no schematic.

I have sound when connected to either AV4 and/or AV3 input but there is no real picture. There is "scrolling color lines" no actual picture scrolling. Problem started when the power to house was going on and of during a t-storm. Picture works fine from AV1 and the side input. Have tried new DVI cord and other video cables for AV 3, no luck. I tried unplugging the tv for a few minutes, no help. Then unplugged the tv overnight, no help.
