Television and Home Theater

My Sony 42PFM plasma flatscreen now has a double image that covers the bottom half of the screen. This makes the TV completely unwatchable. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with sony on this. The net research I have seen so far indicates sony is not that interested in rectifying this defect?

Our 5 year old tv has suddenly developed colored wavy lines on top of the picture.  They're almost transparent.  Is this an expensive thing to fix? 

We've talked to a couple of repairmen and received two different answers.  Wanted to take it in for service, but they want to charge for a service call and were not very helpful.

I have a RCA 60 inch tv and there is a spider and a cobweb inside the screen(behind the plastic screen protector). I was going to try and take the cover off but I am afraid to. Are there any suggestions on how to get this out?
