Sony KP 53HS30 RPT

My TV recently started to have a Convergence issue and after reading about the problem it seems the STK IC's need to be replaced. My plan was to pull the board and give it the once over for cracked or bad solder connections but ultimatlely I will probably have to replace these. I presently don't have a Service Manual and not sure about the whole Service Menu piece so I was hoping someone had a copy they would part with.

I also read that some have added a computer type fan to point at the Heat Sink. Was wondering if this was a good idea as well.

Blinking Green Light Mitsubushi vs-50703

I purchased this tv in 1999 and came home to the dreaded blinking green light.  Saw a bit of smoke come from the area that looked like the power supply.  I have gotten an estimate to fix the power supply using a rebuild, which, after reading some of the forums, he might only be replacing the capacitors.  He says a new power supply is about $500 before install. My question is what should this rebuild cost and due to the tv age what is the max should I put back into it?

Larry you out there?

tv fixed

After finally finding time to trouble shoot my dead tv found the fuse was actually blown. When tested got a bad reading from an old multimeter, got new meter and showed fuse was blown. Went to Radio Shack to get a new fuse, problem being the original fuse was a 6.3a 125v. Replacement fuse was a 6.3a 250v. Does this pose a problem?? Hate to cause a different problem with the higher volt rating even though the amps are the same. Thanx for the help....

Thank you Larry Dillon

Just wanted to thank you for all your help in resolving the trouble we had with our Sony KP-57HW40. (http://www.techlore.com/forum/thread/... ).

I contacted PTSCorp as you suggested on September 7th. They ran a bit behind in getting the replacement board to us, seems their Sony department was backed up. Surprised
