Television and Home Theater

I have an Akai Model Number PTH5498. Picture went out with an electrical buzz and pop. Now it is clicking and you can hear a squeaking, whining sound as something is spinning. No image at all. All this occurred with no obvious evidence of a power surge, no bad weather and something inside burned as the smell of burning electrical device was present. Love the TV an would like to repair it if cost effective.

I need help on fixing my ws-65615. It experienced a power surge and the tv doesn't turn on but the green light just keeps blinking. Can anyone help me or at least guide me through on repairing it.

A couple of questions on this TV and the remotes.

New gal wants it gone.   For shame.  But there is the beginning of a yellowish splotch on the right.       

Seems there are a lot of folks looking for remotes. Actually one double-wide seems impressive.

 What to do with the remotes? The TV?   Would anybody want this for show/set decoration etc.

 Advice anyone?
