Television and Home Theater

All:

Just, literally, inherited this heavy as a rock SONY from my mom who passed away.  I trucked it home 900 miles in the back of my Toyota Sequoia.

We plugged it up last week for the season finale of LOST and --jeez -- what a light washed out picture.  We brought my son's Phillips 26" in in a hurry and the contrast between the two was stark (pun intended).

 SONY KV-36FS16  - Any ideas what I can do to troubleshoot this?  or likelihood of restoring what was a good SONY unit to its former picture quality?

I HAVE A SAMSUNG HLP6163WX HAS GOOD AUDIO  SCREEN LIGHTS UP BUT NO VIDEO OR MENU CAN BE SEEN JUST GREEN,BLUE ,BLACK, RED BOXES ON ENTIRE SCREEN ON ALL INPUTS HELP!
