Television and Home Theater

Hi, I'm new to the forum. Just got a AKAI PT5299HD rear projection TV from a friend. The screen is ghosting and it looks kind of bowed in and there is a burning smell. I put in a DVD and I looks like it is zoomed in. Some of the title is off the screen. I've a put pic of the screen as my profile photo. From what I've been reading I need to replace the convergence IC's. Can anyone verify that I am on the right track?
