I have read that the WS500 CRTs generally are not that reliable. Are the WS510 CRTs that much better? I have a 57WS500 and one tube is arcing at the base sometimes. I could get a WS510 that has a convergence problem. I would get the WS510 model if the CRTs are more reliable than the WS500 model.

My problem started with what appeared to be no sound and no video. After openeing the bottom front of the cabinet I "messed" with the POTS that control the guns (sorry I don't know what the POTS are called.) When I increased each of the top set of adjustments I could see a single line across the screen comprised of each of the RGB lamps.

On the board beneath the blue lamp appears what could be leakage from the blue lamp. For good or bad I attempted to "clean" this with some acetone. While it certainly looks better it did nothiong for my problem.

I have a KP-57WS500 that I bought used and the green crt / tube showed light vertical retrace lines on the set. I adjusted the screen voltage on the green crt to just remove the retrace lines. A few months later the TV would flash a green screen and a snap / arc / pop could be heard inside. The TV will then shutdown sometimes, but not all of the time.

The green flash will sometimes happen 4 times a week and then sometimes only 1 time a week. I then tried adjusting the green crt screen voltage again and I saw an arc from the green tube or the CG board.
