Television and Home Theater

I have an old Magnavox TV, and when I turn it on it has sound and the picture is distorted. When I hit the power button to turn it off the sound goes out and the picture straightens up and stays on for a couple of minutes then it shuts off.

I am trying to figure out if it is practical to try and fix or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Guys, 

Maybe this is the place where I can find help. I have this Sony TV working fine for a long time. Suddenly, yesterday I was watching an event the TV colors changed blue-red-green and last very dark purple and turned off. I took it out from the power outlet and I tried to plug it today. The TV will not turn ON. At the begging it will turn for like 20 seconds with red light blinking 10 times and it turns off. While it's off, the red start blinking 5 time continusly. 

I bought a new system and had the guy from Best Buy my old TV into the garage where it sat for a week , when I had someone who wanted to buy it however I could not get it to turn on all I got was a blinking green light .. I tryed the reset several times and tried all the solutions that was in the owners guide. It worked find before it was moved the garage .now none of the controls work on either of the panel or the remote control ..any one with a solution will be very welcomed..
