Emerson TV problem

My emerson tv is acting weird. My remote does not work and the buttons on the front of the tv do not properly work. The power button works fine. However, the volume and channel buttons do not work. When I press the menu button it does nothing...however, if I hold down the menu button it turns the volume up. When I let go of the menu button the volume involuntarily turns itself down to zero (no volume). To make it even more odd, when I hold the menu button down and then volume goes up I can then hold down the volume button and it will "hold" the volume at its current intensity.

I have a sony 65" rear projection modelKP65ws510
that wiil turn on and show a gray screen with some back round taht increeses in brightness for about 30 seconds and then the tv turns off it looks like the baulbs are fine for when it turns off a ball shows in the middle of the screen with the three colors and then the set completly turns off.The set is not even 2 years old nand was bought new

well were to start im an electrician from south florida. i have no power , well i decided to hook up my house to a generator ( due to wilma) well i guess i had a spike and now my tv has a green screen!!! can any one help i want to fix this on my own! can any one help me??? please!!!!!!!!!!

PROBLEM: LOW/ no CONTRAST

(THE MENU LOOKS GREAT)

I have checked the beam limiter and luminance driver and the voltages are correct. The menu looks great. The picture (contrast) control in the menu moves but does not affect the picture.
I have the service manual for this set.
