I was just given an old Phillips Magnovox projection screen tv. M/N 7P6035 W101 S/N 77570806. Chassis M/N PTV775-AH01. They said it worked great when they used it. It has been sitting in an unused bedroom for 5 years. I got it home and turned it on, all sound works and all ports work just fine, the picture shows, but it is a dull look and white in color, Hey, I know its old, but it was free. Is it worth fixing, or is it a good boat anchor?
Oh and I tried adjusting the color settings in the tv menu but it didn't help.....
Sounds like contaminated coolant, Phillips are notorious for this. Hard to explain how to tell if it is or not unless you have seen it before. Try googling it. The coolant change process is pretty straight forward, easy unless you spill so much as a drop on any boards. If it turns out you do have contaminated coolant If you need a resource for new coolant let me know.
i believe that it is a coolant issue. I printed off a convo from an old forum topic that had a step by step process on how to change the coolant. Seems pretty easy........This is what I have found on the coolant http://electronics.mcmelectronics.com/?N=&Ntt=coolant&x=22&y=7
That coolant will work fine. Good luck on your endeavor.
Thanks......I just ordered it i will let you know how it goes.
