We have a Sony projection television that turns on to the point of sound and then suddenly turns itself off. Whether I use the remote or manually the television starts to come on voice and all. The sound of my favorite show is music to my ears after a long day, but instead of sound graduating to the televsion screen filling with action, the standby light flashes, and off goes the power. At first it would come right back on with a push of the power button, but now it argues with me "so to speak" and continues to keep turning itself off no matter how many times I push the power button back on. Any suggestions? Of course the next step is to call a repairman, but I like to have a head start on the diagnosis.
