Hi Everyone! This is my first post to this forum. I have a Magnavox 51MP392H HD ready TV and am trying (unsuccessfully) to connect it to my computer for home theater use. The TV has an HD input via RGBHV or Y/Pr/Pb and according to the manual is compatible with 480p or 1080i equipment. I ordered Atlona cable number AT19082-4 to connect the TV to my VGA output on my computer. The picture is clear during the boot process and the TV flashes 480p on the screen, but when Windows starts to load the image goes crazy, like multicolored snow. I am trying to use on board graphics, which may be my problem. The highest resolution my onboard graphics can muster is 1024 x 768. I don't mind buying a graphics card if I know that will fix my problem, but then which one should I buy? I have seen some that support 1080p, but no mention of 1080i. Any ideas? This isn't a HDCP issue is it?
Thanks!

try turning the resolution down instead of up see what happens. The resolution that is clear for you is the one before windows loads correct that resolution is 680x420 then it goes all fuzzy when windows changes the resolution to what ever setting you have it on. See if this corrects the problem another thing to look at is how you have your display set up. Is it set up to be a dual monitor like both laptop and tv show the same thing or is setup to where the pictured is transfered from the laptop screen to tv?
I didn't see a 680x420 option so I tried 640x480 and it that works, however the definition is very poor. Any setting higher than that and it goes bonkers. I do not have a graphics card installed, there is only one vga output and that is onboard so I am physically switching between the tv and the monitor while fiddling around. Is this inability to achieve higher resolution due to the onboard video not being 1080i compliant? As stated previously I don't mind buying a graphics card I just want to be sure I buy the right one.
