Have a Sony XBR1 50" rear projection. Previously had "yellow stain" issue which was repaired under extended warranty by Sony due to class action settlement.
Worked fine for about a year, then started having issues powering up. Would blink green 10 or 11 times, then go to red blinks as it shut down. For a while, got it on and kept it on for 3 months straight (!) so it doesn't appear to be heat related once on.
Took to shop, they cleared out dust, sold me new bulb and sent back. Worked for a week or so, then started up again. Turned off for good, so I bought new 50" LCD for football season. After a month, decided to test again before I tossed it or got repaired. Worked fine...for about a month. Now it's doing it again.
Any ideas what it could be and is it worth repairing? since no one around here seems to come out to house to repair, I'd need to bring this monster in to a shop and I really want to do it just the one time.

The Red LED blink count is very useful in helping diagnose the set correctly. After the set is blinking green (lamp warmup) what happens next? Does a solid red light go on? Does it blink red and how many times?
after it goes to Red, it seems to blink three times, pause, then three times pause, three times.....etc
