I bought KP65WS500 in 2001 and she's been very good to me until 3 wks ago when she suddenly has red shadowing and bowing mainly at the bottom of the screen. I've tried pressing "flash Focus" and still have it. I haven't tried to do the manual convergence since I've just found out how to do it. The LED flash about 4 times, but when I enter service menu it's all "0" errors. From my research online and following techlore threads, the problem points to faulty convergence chip. Talked w/ TV repair and we're talking $350-400 to repair which I dont have. My question is should I try doing manual convergence first? ( i've read the service manual- confusion if your not too technical. Im afraid that i might mess it up even more) or should I just try to replace the convergence IC (TVrepairs.com sells complete convergence repair kit for around $87 w/ S/H). What should I do? please help ASAP! Football season is here!. By the way, any info about TVrepairs.com (good or bad)?
Thanks a lot
Erik

SoNy KP 65WS500 Convergence Problem
Convergence issues are better left to someone trained to repair them. You have a good chance of messing your set up more. Even if you bought the kit and repaired it yourself, you will have to reconverge the set.
