I'm looking for a power supply that will be able to turn off all of my devices connected to the tv by just turning off the remote. I want to get rid of all of the standby power and just basically be able to shut off my TV and have everything else go dead. Is there anything like that out there?
Kudos to you for wanting to be a little greener. Depending on what you have in your AV rack, things like DVRs and such should be left on so they can record shows, etc.
Belkin's conserve line of surge protectors would be a simple solution. It's a surge protector with a remote control that kills all but a few of the outlets when turned off. http://www.belkin.com/conserve/
If you have a home theater receiver in your rack that sports an outlet on the back, many home theater surge protectors have a cord that plugs into it. When power on the receiver is turned off, the surge protector shuts off the switched outlets. Kind of convenient if you have the gear for it.
Hi Matt, thanks for the belkin info - I hadn't seen that power strip.
I'm interested in a similar thing so I've started a little research to find what works well. I think the remote thing is cool, but honestly - another remote might just cause my girlfriend to go nuts!
I found this Monster Cable *I don't know why it cut my post off right here the first time...?*
I was saying, I found this "GreenPower" one that basically shuts off power to devices once you turn say, your TV off. It would cut power to it and the dvd player, etc. so you really just shut off the TV and you're done.

Not sure why your post was cut off, but we've been seeing that from time to time. Can you tell me:
1. What web browser you use (IE6, IE7, FF3, Safari, Chrome, etc.) and the version number.
2. Did you post using the basic text box (no Word like formatting buttons at the top) or the advanced box (with all the buttons)?
Sure, Monster has their own version as well. If you don't want a remote, their system will monitor one outlet and kill the other 4 "green" outlets when the device plugged into the control outlet is turned off.
Panamax also offers some models with a 12v trigger to kill a few outlets. All are worth considering.
