After reading through all of the threads here related to the convergence issue, I decided to try and fix my TV's problem myself. I have a Mitsubishi WS-55511 that developed a convergence problem last week. Basically the colors were off, giving the 3D effect. I ordered a couple of replacement ICs (STK393-110) and some pico fuses from Bluestar International Components. I replaced the IC but not the pico fuses and resistors since they checked out ok with my DMM. However, the TV is still out of whack and now has a "bowed" picture as well. I am not able to make any changes to the geometry or convergence from the service menus. I did try both ICs thinking maybe I had a bad one, but the second one yielded the same results, with additional probelsm.
Any thoughts on what I might try? Could both ICs be bad?
Thanks!
You will need to take some voltage measurments and make sure the plus and the minus 22 volts is making its way up to the IC. The service manual IS available in the resources tab on the home page for a free download. Good Luck
Thanks Larry. I do have the service manual. I was hoping their might be an "obvious" solution. I will pull out the schematics and start troubleshooting.
It may be time for a new TV while keeping this one for "tech practice".
Thanks!
