My tv was flawless for years until the other night when I turned it off w/ the remote. The next morning when it was turned on the screen was majorly distorted. The image was shadowed and it bowed down toward the center at the top and up from the bottom. (similar to the shape of a bowtie) The information posted in these forums has been incredibly helpful in troubleshooting my problem so far but am still having the same problem after replacing the IC's and fuses. Thinking I am missing something simple, I have read thru the posts over and over again, soldered and unsoldered the IC's several different times (now confident the solder is correct) and have repeatedly checked all the pico fuses, on both the H and G boards, all testing in working order. I did replace one pico fuse on the G board at first but reading OK now.
Here I am hours later with the same problem. Screen is still screwed and I cannot get any response when trying to converge in service mode. I even have a similar model tv, a Sony KP-46WT500 right next to this one. This tv is fine, I'm just using it to compare the screens after entering the service mode. I have the service manual for the KP-46WT500 and when I enter the service mode on that tv the picture responds as the manual states. When I follow the same procedure on the KP-46WT510, the screen looks nothing like it should. The green, blue, and red grids are way off and what little response I do get has no effect in correcting the convergence. Could the replacement IC's be bad? They are OEM parts. Is there any way to test them? When comparing the readings from different contacts on the boards from each tv, the reading were similar???? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Get the spec sheet for stk then you can check each pin out voltage. Hope this help.
