I have a WD-52725 purchased in October of 2004. Within the first 90 days the Light Engine had to be replaced along with a bulb. Since then I have replaced the bulb 2 more times, most recently in August.
A week before the Super Bowl I began to have the Blinking light problem. I discovered if the set was left unplugged for a few hours it would resume "normal" operation. At this point I want to mention the set had a perfect picture when it was on. There were no signs of anything wrong. This worked for a few days while I waited for a service tech to look at it. The day the service man was to arrive the set would not turn on.
The service tech looked a the set and said the Power Supply board was bad and he would repair it. He replaced 3-4 caps and tried to turn the set on with no luck. He replaced 2 fuses which were blown. The fuses re-blew. He said the PS board would have to be replaced as it was bad.
The next day he replaced the PS board and the set would still not turn on. He then said the DM board was bad and took it in to replace it. I got a call a couple of days later and he said he had replaced more caps and the DM board but the set still would not work. He then said it also had a bad FMT board.
After replacing the FMT board he said the set works but has pink lines running through the picture so he thought it was a bad replacement FMT board. He ordered another FMT board and installed it with the same results.
He now says it also has a bad Signal board and the set is not worth fixing! I have not seen the set since it was taken to the repair shop. Does any of this sound reasonable? I know a little about electronics and know they can to seemingly wierd things sometimes but to progress through this many boards seems strange.
The tech also told me virtually all of the caps are bad in the set. This is set has always been connected to a UPS with power regulation so I am fairly sure it hasn't been hit with low/high voltage.
Sorry for the length of this post but I wanted to provide as much detail as possible. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Howard
