Mitsubishi WS-55711 Problems (purchased on 5/1/2003)
All a sudden last night the TV shut off. If you turn the TV back on the green light goes on then the TV shuts itself off about 5 seconds later and the green light goes out. During the period that it is on there is no audio/video. Before this problem occured sometimes intermittently I get this hour glass effect on the video, but by power cycling the TV it goes away, go figure...
I tried reseting and that didn't do anything. I tried un-plugging power to the TV then plugging it back in and the only thing I noticed was a noise from the TV when I plugged it in, maybe thats normal? Also once I plugged power to the TV the green light flashed for about a minute then went out.
Please help if you know what might be happening, send any repair info to me via the forum or email at [email protected]
I'm also curious what this may cost to repair... :(
Did anyone ever reply to you about your tv not turning on? I went out of town for a month and came back and my roommate told me that all of a sudden my tv wasn't working. I have an WS 55711. I tried checking the connections to the back of the tv to see if anything was loose, but everything was intact. I even tried reset the tv. When I did a green light came on for about a minute. I still couldn't power the tv on. I also tried unhooking tv from the wall and the green light came on again, but the tv will not power.
Please I was wondering if you might know what might be wrong with my tv. Can you please send me any repair info you might have or how much this might cost me to fix.
Thanks
I had the convergence output IC and a fuse or two replaced. The repair was $352.63 from a very reliable TV repair person in Seattle. You can do it yourself if your good with a solder gun and the part is easily accessible and affordable like around $50.00. However you need to literally take your whole TV apart and be able to solder 20 or so pins all at once. I don't really recommend it for the do-it-yourselfer... This is very a common problem with this TV because over time the chip gets super hot and eventually gets worn out. Just only if Mitsubishi kept the chip coolÂ… For me to spend this little amount of money and to get the TV running again and hopefully get 5 more years out of it is well worth it.
It's awesome that I can hopefully help someone else out with this really old thread. Good luck with your TV and let me know how it goes.
