GE 31gt660

First I'd like to say, thanks for the great community.I have read alot of posts looking for a place to ask for info. This seems like a good group of folks here.

Ok,I have a GE 31gt660 chassis ctc187cn3.

My problem started out as retrace lines,I adjusted the "S"(Screen) on the rear of the set,and corrected the problem. Now as time has past by,things have gotten worse. The screen began to,,well,,what I call "burn",in bright screen situations,so,I turned down the brightness in the menu.Ok,it gets worse, lol,,now with the brightness all the way down, and the "S" control almost all the way down, the burn is so bad,it's just about not usable.Maybe what i've heard refered to as "bleed".

I am an RF tech incase the screen name didn't lead anyone to that.lol.I am confident I can make the physical repairs.I just have no info.I dont have a schematic or a manual.SO,I am asking for any assistance I can get.

I hope I have explained the problem well enough for someone to be able to give me some direction..

Again,I'd like to thank you for the forums, and for any replies.

So there is a bleeding of the colors off the edge of an object or are their retrace lines a a white picture? A little bit better description please.

Thanks for the fast reply

Thanks for the fast reply Larry.

Realy there is both, the bleeding of colors, retrace lines, and, everything is very pale. When the picture is say,a bright setting, then the bleed or burn takes over the entire screen and ya realy can't see anything just white. Is it possible to attach a digital pic ? A picture may help alot in seeing what I'm trying to explain.

It is possible that your

It is possible that your picture tube is bad. It is an older TV set. You could possibly have a bad capacitor in the screen circuit also. You will need to get a schematic for this set and check the voltages on the picture tube socket. Good Luck

You can get a paper or

You can get a paper or electronic version from HERE for like 22 bucks. If you get one, let me know and I will assist you in the troubleshooting if I can.

 Larry,

 Larry,

I had some time today so I pulled the set apart, and gave a good visual of everything.

I found an open resistor,it's call out is "R4126u".Could you tell me the value of this resistor?

Prolly not the problem,,but an open resistor is an open resistor, and needs to be replaced. It looks to be about a 1 watt metal oxide.

Standing by waiting to see if I get a reply thank you.

I am sorry, I do not have a

I am sorry, I do not have a clue. . I told you before, I do not have the schematic for this model number.

Um,,ok,,Wonder if there is any where to find that out, without paying for thier schemo?

I missunderstood you I am sorry.I thought you just needed me to have the schemo to follow you sir.My bad.
