help please

Ive got toshiba 42 wp56p plasma its just over a year old and the picture has gone off, there is still sound on it. I called sum one 2 have a luk at it and they reakon its the A and B boards and that it will be 330 pounds to fix it. The bloke didnt even open it up 2 have a luk it mite b me bein a girl but surely he cud of opened it up 2 check. My partner has tried 2 get the bits himself but no body had heard of our telly. Is this expensive cos i really cant afford it especially with xmas cumin up. Any help would be much appreciated thank you.
