Greetings, I have a sony projection tv im working on i have a problem with it when you turn it on all you get is three lines horizontal on the screen reb green blue i have a blown fuse on the convergence board i changed it but i just blew again i think i need to change the STK IC's but does that control the vertical also or might it have another problem and where should i start thanks any help would be appreciated
I found one of the problems yesterday the convergence board is cracked not sure how it got that way but it is cause if i hput pressure on it i can get the picture to come up but it is still way out of convergence any one know where i can get a convergence board for this tv it is a 1993 thanks
Are you sure it is cracked, it could be a bad connection on the ic's try soldering the pins on the ic's. unless you see a crack, i would assume bad solder connection first.
o yes it is cracked very plain to see not sure how it got that way i picked this tv up for like 25 bucks and wanted to see if i could fix it but i need a convergence board now does any one have one or know where i could buy one thanks
sony, but a cracked board can be fixed. if you have the soldering skills. it realy is not that hard to do. i can give you tips on fixing cracked boards if you want to attempt this.
btw, if you are missing vertical deflection, you may have burnt crt phosphors. If so the three lines will never go away. that is probably why you got it for 25 bucks, the tech probably told them about the possibility/ or actuality of burnt phosphors, look inside the tubes with the set off, and see if you can see a dark line on the crt screen(you might need a flashlight) if you can, those lines are burned in permanently.
i have tried to solder jumper wires across the crack but it still doesnt work correctly the screen comes up but there is just a lot of lines running up and down, and before i could put pressure on the board and get the volume display to show on the screen (Green) all the crts are powered up the red and blue ones have the scrolling lines but the green one is just clear and dim like i said before i could put pressure on the convergence board and the green would light up perfectly i think its possible i could have missed a few spots soldering but not sure it quit blowin the fuse on the board the burnt crts you are talking about i dont see any lines in there and when the screen comes up i dont see them either from what they told me they were just watching it one day and the picture went out so i t hasnt been run long with the bright lines i figure you know 25 bucks what can i lose trying to fix it i appreciat your help also if you know anyone that has a board laying around or a part out that would be helpful too thanks
