Have had this Sony Tube Tv for 6 years with no issues.
While watching TV suddenly heard a pop sound resulting in no picture no sound. Turning back on makes the standby blinking with no pattern. Please help what could be problem. Sony error code describes something abt ic jungle ic301 and so on. Any body has more details in this. Would really appreciate any help to revive my TV.
possiably ic501 on A board, but you said somthing poped, have you opened the set up and looked inside yet ?
Yes I did and checked the basic fuse and stuff. No burning smell so I'm presuming the pop was just a sudden discharge. Also got a information from some other site on IC601 so checked that. But no luck.
i don't agree, check the electrolytic caps, and see if you have one with the top puffed up. they should all be flat. also the pop could be an ic that has exploded, this is harder to detect, look at ic501 and see if there is a hole in it. also if i remember correctly on this unit the g board is on the left side, and to the back are two transistors that control the switching power supply. check to see if these transistors have a physical hole or crack. beyond that it will be a real trouble shoot, you will need a dvm. i can help you through this one.
zapdbf--i have a kp-61v45.. after changing the 2ic's on the g-board, and both pico fuses on g-board. I now get no screen and the continuos blinking light. prior to changing the ic's-i wasjhaving trouble w the blue convergence.
