9 blinks is a zero crossing error, it is a small circuit on the g board that waits for the ac to cycle to zero volts before turning on the set. it is to reduce shock to the power supply components. it is a piece of over engineering by sony (imho) i see this problem all the time and it usually is D6301 sony part number 6-500-567-21 Don't bother checking this part because the problem is not a dead short but a small leak. On diode check it will check ok. ( it is probably a $5 part not sure i just give my order to our parts guy never see the cost, but it isn't expensive)
thank you very much i was able to contact sony here in canada and they said the same thing..i have a repair guy coming on tuesday september 19th he said they dont make those parts anymore so he has to rebuild this one ..is that possible .. the sony guy said he wouldnt bother putting me through to the tech support cause they wouldnt understand the part number to order.. pretty confusing.. and here we thought that sony was the best name going i just keep getting the run around..
the part he was talking about was g board, the part i am talking about is available, we buy it all the time. it is just a small component on the g board.
thanks..i have got a price of $6.35 plus $8.00 for shipping...very helpful to me very much appreciated...
In some places or some distributors, say they do not have this component, but there is another Sony replacement for this Diode. If they replace the entire G board for a diode, boy is that a waste of cash. I fix this problem in the home now that I know the problem. It is a lot easier then pulling the set or the chassis to repair a small part like a diode.
i must say larry you have helped us out quite a bit. if it wasnt for you i think my bank account would be empty by now.. when the repair guy came in yesterday i had a bit of a talk with him and he was shocked to see how much research i have done for my tv. lol he said i should become a tv repair helper..(( my thought was No i cant see myself screwing others like i know he is trying to screw me))...i am a quick learner though!!!!! i had been looking through some of the things you have posed and i didnt even know we could clean the screen now to figure out if mine is rear projection it looks like the one that is showing on the screen when you click on how to clean.. i better not try it just in case!!! better to double check first huh.. i know i am dumb butttttttttt i am not a blonde lol..you have a great day and i will talk to you again soon. ps where the heck do you live anyway!!! jennifer
Jennifer, thanks for the kind words. I always try to help. If you tell me your e-mail address, I can send you a service manual that will explain how to take off the screen and clean the glass mirrors and lens of dust. That will usually brighten and sharpen most projection TV set. Oh by the way, I live in northern Michigan, about 10 miles north of Cadillac. How about you?
sorry i posted something for you in the forums how dumb am i lol..
