My Mitsubishi color TV (model CS-2710RA; Jan 1992) has recently begun
to display more B & W images than color (whether watching DVDs or live
broadcasts). Need it to last another 5-6 months until I buy a HDTV.
Repair/troubleshooting suggestions ?

Your problem is probably a bad tuner. This model number is well known for this problem. A set this age, would not be worth investing a couple of hundred bucks into it at this point. I'm afraid, if you want color TV, you will need to take a shopping trip. Good Luck
