Lines on screen

I have a Sony KP51WS500 TV. The picture shows lines across the entire tv. Approximately 5 blue lines from left to right can be seen. Each line is equally spaced apart and are not straight across but sort of curved arch to it. Also I'm not sure if this may help but the picture doesn't appear as black as it used to either.

Thanks for assistance.

If the picture looks like a 3

If the picture looks like a 3-D picture, you will need to have the convergence IC's replaced. These IC's are mounted on the D board and should cost you about 300 bucks or so to have this repair done. Good Luck, and let us know how this repair turns out.

Hi Larry, thanks for the

Hi Larry, thanks for the quick response. I don't believe I have a 3-D picture issue (is that similar to ghosting 2 images not aligned properly?) All it is just lines across the screen. If you can remember what a sine wave on a oscilloscope looked like, it's kinda like that. Yeah, I know I'm dating myself with that comment.

I'll keep you posted to what I find out. I called a local (only 1) sony repair shop. $92 for the service call + parts.

Jim, the way your describing

Jim, the way your describing the picture certainly does sound like one of the convergence amps are bad. The price you were quoted is not a bad price, if they do not have to take the set to the repair shop. Most of these convergence repairs can indeed be done in the home.
