Hi there.
I have a 25" RCA F25305TX2 tv that I bought late in 2000. At the same time I purchased an extended warranty that covered it until late November of 2006. Either late '03 or early '04 the sound cut out so I called for repair. I was contacted be the repair facility and was told to do a Hard Boot by unplugging it, waiting 10 minutes and plugging it back in. It worked... for about 6 months. When it happened again, I did a reboot and the sound came back but didn't last. On each subsuqent reboot, the sound may work for 5 months or just 2 days. So it went in for repair. When I got it back I was told that the speakers were blown. (Don't know how a hard reboot can fix 2 blown speakers ;o) After this repair it worked for 3 or 4 months. At this point, a reboot only worked 2 or 3 times; then even being unplugged for 24 hours didn't help. It was sent to a different repair facility. (Didn't like the reasoning of the previous one.) They had it for almost a month. Brought it back to me saying they left it on for a full day and it worked fine. Two days later the sound went out again. A reboot brought it back for a while but it kept going out and eventually got to the point where a reboot didn't work any more. At this point I was about a month before the end of the extended warranty. I called them again and was informed that there was a bulletin on these tv's about this problem and that the e-prom needed to be replaced. A copy of the buttetin was sent to the repair facility and they ordered the part. That was almost 5 months ago. I've been calling them and have been told that the part is on backorder. Last week, when I called; I was told the part was in. They came and picked up the tv and I got it back yesterday. Was told that the e-prom was replaced. Tonight the sound went out again. A hard reboot brought it back. I think they should replace the tv but that's not why I'm writing this. Any ideas on what else can be done to fix this?
It's a great tv and I want to get it fixed while it's still covered under the extended warranty.
Thanks
