i currently have my comcast cable box hooked up to my tv by a hdmi cable. my tv only has i hdmi input. i now want to buy a 2.1 home theater in a box. how do i set that up. i still want the hdmi effect but can not figure out how the whole thing should be connected. Help!!!!

It will likely be one of two ways. The audio system you buy might have HDMI switching, where you run the HDMI cable from the cable box into the audio system, and then another to the television. If the model you choose doesn't have this capability, you will run the HDMI cable from the cable box straight to the TV as you are, then run the digital audio out from the TV back to the audio system.
I'm also getting the vibe that you may choose a HTIB that also has an HDMI output, but your TV only has 1 input. Shy of buying an external switch, there's not much you can do about that, you'll have to choose one device for HDMI. I think the HD connection from your cable box will get the most benefit from the connection, so I'd go with that one.
Matt, thanks-a-lot. if i understand correctly if a buy a htib that has 2 hdmi slots i would connect from the cable box to the htib then connect from the htib to the tv. again Thanks for your help.

When you go shopping, keep in mind that you should look for something that has at least 2 in and one out so that your system can grow a little without putting you back into the same pickle.
