Hello,I have a KP46WT500 with a problem with convergence.I've read through almost every post on problems of this nature and desided to try and fix myself.I have a service manual for this set and have read it and I think I have a basic understanding for the repair.I ordered the convergence IC's STK392-560.And when they arrived the company shipped STK392-570.I called them to question the mistake and they told me the part was an upgrade. It looks exactly the same.Should I be concerned about using this part?A Pro's advice would be much appreciated.Thank You.
No you did get an upgraded part my friend. You can most certainly use these parts instead of the 560. Also aomething you must remember is to apply a nice amount of heat sink compound on the backs of the new IC's before you replace them. Good Luck and let us know how this repair turns out for you. ∞
OK that sounds great.I am obviously not a tv tech.I'm an automotive tech.In all of the posts concerning replacing IC's you mention using heat sink compound? Can I use silicone dielectric compound? If not can I buy it at Radio Shack?Sorry to ask such question but want to make sure I use correct compound
No that is not the same product. U can buy it at the local electronic supply house or radio shack, and Ask as many questions as you feel you need to do this job properly and safely.
OK I have got the heat sink compound.I have the chassis slid out and have taken great care to mark and label how everything goes and to not damage anything.I have an issue with getting one of the red wires out of a componet on the D board. The componet part # is 859882820 and I would describe it as a coil? The manual shows disconnecting the high voltage wires by turning 90deg counterclockwise.I got the larger red wire disconnected no problem. The smaller red one I can't get loose. Is there a different procedure for disconnecting this one?Just don't want to force or damage anything.Thats the only thing thats keeping me from getting the D board to the solder vac. and replacing the IC's.Thank You again for your time!
No mt friend, these can be a real pest sometimes. be persistant and you will get bthem loose, If you follow the service manual you will get those pesky things or wires loose. Good Luck.
Hi Larry,
I've replaced both IC's and obviously now that isn't the problem.Pictures exactly the same as before.Checked fuses and resistors that feed 22v+ and 22v- to the IC's also. When you go into service mode with the remote comander I can adjust any value horizontal and verticle on colors red and blue no problem. But When I try to adjust the green in fine or course adjustment modes it will respond to horizontal adjustments but it will NOT respond to verticle adjustments for green in any mode.Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
is the 22v Plus and minus there on the IC's Did you check all of the feed back resistors, as this sounds like that is the problem. Did you ever get the service manual for this TV set? If you need it and know how to read them, let me know and I will see what i can do for you.
Yes I do have the service manual for this set.The voltage on RB127 is 22.5v+ and RB122 is 20.7v-.And I don't know what feed back resistors are? However I do Know what resistors and most other componets are and I can read a schematic if I knew what to look for.
Make sure the voltages are at the IC's themselfs my friend. let me look and I will get back to you. i will do as much as I can to assist you.
