Ok...the picture sometimes works..the sound always works...I do have an electronics background (not in TV's) but none the less it can't be that hard...I have just never troubleshot a TV. Any idea what could be wrong and where can I get a schematic?

The service manual for this set can be downloaded HERE This problem could be as simple as a bad connection on the picture tube drive board on the end of the CRT. Also check around the flyback area for poor or overheated looking connections. I have also seen in the past the the Highvoltagr rectifier inside the flyback cause a problem like this.
