Hello,
I have a 27" RCA TV in my condo that is only two years old and has been turning itself on by itself since I bought the condo a year ago. Since I rent the place out only in the summer and it is 500 miles away, I am not there enought to find out what was happening. Just last week I was and found that when the tv is off and I unplug it and then plug it back in, it turns the set on. I'm thinking that a power surge or power intteruption maybe the culprit here.
Any ideas?
So are you saying that if the set is unplugged, you then plug it is, the set comes on? WQhat happens if you turn the set off with the remote or the power switch with the power sutton on the front of the set?
Yes.
Everything works fine with the remote or the power switch. When you turn the set off and then unplug it from the wall and plug it back in the wall, it comes on automatically without using the remote or pressing the power button.
But what if you do not unplug the set from the wall, there are alot of TV sets that will come on after they are unpligged and then plugged back in again.
I didn't know that. I thought all tv's manufactured today would need to be turned on by a button or remote control.
There's goes my theory of a power interruption.
All I know is that I keep getting complaints from management that my tv is on and I don't know what to do about it except replace it I guess. Right now I set a daily timer to shut it off for 2:00AM to get around the fact that it could go on for weeks or months without me knowing it.
You could have a bad remote sensor or one of the front buttons could be bad.
