SONY 32" TV. Picture blanks out

Set is about 10 years old .... which means I'm disappointed to be having a problem on that was an expensive set. Looks like the high voltatage drops out (sqiggly red line zips to the middle of the screen as the screen goes black), sound remains on.  I'm presuming something with the high voltage, but I'm no expert (nor do I have the equipment to check it). I'm looked around the inet to see if this is a common problem, and I'm thinking perhaps it is. Perhaps I just need to replace the HV board?

Is there something that commonly goes wrong like this with Sony large screen CRT's?

In order for us to help, we need to know the exact model number.  This is found on the back of the set and should be KV-32xxx.  We need the xxx.

I have more information since

I have more information since my last post:

The screen blanking problem on my Sony KV-32S22 is recurrent and intermittent. After the screen blanks, if you turn the set off, when you turn it back on (even just a second or two later) the picture is back. It may go blank again in a few seconds or in several minutes, or several hours, or not at all the rest of the evening.

Tried to get the set into service mode (using sequence from http://www.techlore.com/article/15444... but I don't have a 'Channel' button on my remote or the set. Any suggestions for how to get into service mode, or to see the error codes?

I also looked for the blinking 'standby' light to find the code, but the light does not come on when the fault occurs, nor does it blink out a code when I turn the set back on after the fault.

 Thanks for any help...
