Is my screen dirty on the inside?

I have never removed my screen so I don't know what to expect on the inside.  Here is my issue.  When I have a picture on my wide-screen that is light, such as blue sky and white clouds or solid white backgroud, I can see that my screen is darker in the middle.  The middle of my screen, where a 4x3 picture displays, is dark.  The 3 inch vertical screen area on the left and right are lighter.  The first thing I think of is the middle is used so much that either its dirty or some type of burning.  Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can fix this.

Sorry.  I have a Toshiba 46-H84 wide-screen HDTV.  If you need more info, I will post after I get home.

Your going to first need to

Your going to first need to figure out how to take off the front screen assy.  You really should order and download a service manual from HERE.  This will show you how to take apart your TV set, and also explain how and where to do minor adjustments to this TV such as focus, screens and drive adjustments.  Your problem could be just a matter of cleaning the inside lens, and/or the mirrors inside.  Before you do that though, you will need to take off the front screen and turn on the TV set and make sure the darkness you explained is not a burn or something floating around inside the picture tube.  If it is on or inside the tube, the tube will need to be replaced.  Please if you have no TV repair experience, call a pro in to assist you as this is a dangerous job for the unknowledgeable to handle.  Good Luck and let us know how this turns out or what yoiu find inside your set.
