i have a 2001 56" Hitachi HD tv, model # 53UWX10B and while i was watching tv yesterday, the colors (red green blue) were no longer aligned and now i have a blurred image of all three colors rather than all three colors making 1 image. The red is a little to the left, the green is lower and to the right, and the blue is above the two. They are about 1 inch apart. Does this happen often, is this a readily fixable problem and can i do it myself? or is it worth it to call an ever-expensive repair guy? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!
If you have TV repair experience and know how to solder, it is possible for you to repair this yourself. If you do not, a tV set is not the place to be experimenting around inside of. These TV's are not like the good old days where practicly anyone could repair their own TV sets. There are two STK type IC;s inside this set, soldered onto the convergence correction Print circuit board. You will also need the service manual so you can do a convergence alighnment after the IC's are replaced. good luck, and keep us posted on what you did with this repair.
