Mitsubishi WS-55809 Problems

Hi That was the way the cow eats hay, said perfect, anyway i have a Mitsubishi rear projection Model # WS 55809, Serial # 111987 , 1080 series, 55 "screen. Wide screen high def capable, very nice toy, I went to bed and shut tv off and woke up and tried to turn on and Green light to show tv is on, came on for about two seconds and shut down. And that is all it will do, so I read my manual and found nothing. So I opened up the back cover and there is a switch right where electrical plugs in , so i took cover off swith and watch it when tv is turned on, swith engages and then disengages. And that is where I am.
I get no sound or picture or any thing.
The reason I am e-mailing you is this seems to happen to quite a few on blog board, is this common problem.
If it is a easy fix could you give me some advice, if not I am going to call service tech out,
Thanks for reading e-mail

Yes a few things do come to

Yes a few things do come to mind, but you really should be very carefull if your not a tech.  One very common problem with this V18 chassis is, there are two fuses inside the tV set labeled F9A04 and F9A05.  These are the 24 volt B+ and B- fuses.  If these fuses are blown, almost in every case I have seen this the two convergence IC's cause this problem.  Another common fauly is a shorted horizontal output transistor is shorted because the regulator voltage is way too high because of a main power supply falure.  Also this set has leaky CRT's sometimes that leak onto the printed circuit boards and eats away the printed circuit traces.  Play it safe and call out a tech to diagnoise this set for you as there are no easy fixes for this set.  Good Luck and let us know how you made out with this TV.

Yes thanks for the advice,

Yes thanks for the advice, found one fuse 125volt 10 amp and it is good but still hunting for the second fuse although the numbers on fuses are not the numbers mentioned as far as i can see? I think i will try to find a schematic and find the other things. But you are right I am just looking to make sure it was not a blown fuse, at least if i foound a blown fuse that would be a good place to start. Will call tech monday, Sure do miss the picture never seen a better one than what I had, the Only thing that comes close is maybe the wife? Never mind the wife can go need my TV back, Ha Ha

Thanks for reading and responding to my problem, even if i can't fix it makes  it nice to have people like you to help, again thanks again!!!!

you have blown convergence ic

you have blown convergence ic's so The best advice I can tell you at this point is to go to tvrepairkits.com and order the complete convergence kit for your model of TV set, no need to search and order multiple parts from different sources and pay multiple shipping fees! The kit comes with original Sanyo STK ICÂ’S , not those cheap aftermarket or china made ICÂ’S full pictorial directions, the thermal paste, resistors, the correct Pico fuses, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into a problem with the repair. They ship out 2 to 3 day Priority mail, the next day in most cases,

Larry,

Larry,

I just picked up a free WS=65819.

I just got done reading the many pages from the **13 thread. I had previously downloaded and read the DM cap replacement procedure, hoping this set was close enough to the **13 model. I guess not? I just downloaded and started reading the V18 chassis service manual. I noticed that this thread is for the model 55809.

Can I assume that the chassis or the 55809 matches my model WS-65819 since they are the "V18" chassis? I have the 2 seconds-on-then-nothing issue. I have pulled the back off and started looking for issues. I immediately noticed that mine doesn't match the **13 repair procedure for the DM module cap replacement. I guess the V18 doesn't even have a DM module?

If my 65819 chassis is in fact the same as the 55809 (please confirm), I'll send for the repair kit with the convergence IC's and other parts. I'm a EE and a ham radio enthusiast with lots of modern and tube repair experience, so I hope to tackle this repair. I was GIVEN the TV. All I had to do was move it, which my son and I did Saturday. It worked up until Christmas (2009) when the problem started.

I just got the service manual and some of the code check steps today, which I'll try tonight. I have seen the fuse location sheet inside the set. I'll check the pico fuses first.

Other than following your ample steps, any other ideas before I send off the $68 for the tvrepairkits IC kit?
