JVC AV-56WP74 Green Sags

56" rear projection, the green color is sagging dramatically, the green gun is still on. The red and blue are ok on the alignment grid. The manual stated the red and blue are adjustable and the green is fixed. T.V. was only 2 1/2 yrs. old when this occured, and I didn't purchase the extended warranty. I can't get anybody to come to the house and look at it. I'm looking at $150 just to have it picked up and returned plus repairs. Boat anchor?

Oh I now see what you mean by

Oh I now see what you mean by Sagging. Your saying the green will not line up with the red or the blue lines on the convergence. Yes the green is stationary but there is still a convergence correction that takes place on the green deflection. There are two convergence IC's that go bad in almost every rear screen projection, tube-type TV set ever made. Both IC has three amps. built in to it. It handles the RED,GREEN,and BLUE Horizontal and the other IC handles the RED, GREEN,and BLUE vertical correction. these are not parts a layman or unexperienced person with out electronic or solid state experience should ever attempt to replace on thier own. If by chance you know how to use and read a service manual and a schematic diagram, you should be able to replace these IC's and do an alighnment on the set. If the TV set is only 2 and 1/2 years old, no I dont think it is time to call it a boat anchor yet , and I have to chuckle as I use that term alot in these types of repairs. Mostly on sets over 5 to 10 years old. Depending on the problem that is in the set. If you do not have any experience in serviceing printed circuit boards, or soldering, Play it safe and get a trained Tech to assist you in this repair. Good luck and please keep us informed about the progress with the repair of this set.
