Was watching my TV that I found 4 years ago outside a dumpster and at that time I fixed the degaussing coil (open) and has been a great free tv for many years.
Today I was watching it and heard a SNAP! like static but a bit louder and the whole screen is now gray horizontal flickering lines spaced about 1 inch apart horazontally across the entire screen and top to bottom with a slight flicker. I can still see the channel numbers faintly (green) but signal is gone and wonder, any ideas as to localizing the trouble or what happened. Where to start? i am a bit of a TV newbie but build and repair tube amps alot.
Magnasonic Model MCT5524
Any help appreciated.

Oh I should state that the picture is behind what i described but it REALLY REALLY faint.
Possibilities
CRT drive IC popped.
CRT itself has failed.
Flyback transformer has failed .
220volt B+ resistor feeding the before mentioned CRT drive IC popped.
I would guess the spark gap could be shorted. on the CRT board because of a bad CRT or shorted driver transistor.
I notice the is an elecrolytic and it is swelling quite alit like it;s rounded on top. It is a hig voltage electrolytic cap.. Is it worth d*cking around or should i just trash it. It is a 40 dollar TV.
What does the capacitor say on the side of it?
Its a 200 volt cap. What circuit is it in, the power supply? Or the High voltage.
It's OK I replaced it and didn't do anything. I am an amp guy but need to get a book or somthing because I need to learn the stages of TV. TOok it in school but need to go back and rekearn. THanx for your help.
