Toshiba 42H83 problems..

First time caller, long time listener...

I did see that there was a post with my model up, and I didn't want to jack his thread so...

I got this TV real cheap, and it is wonderful. I only had one problem, picture was too tall. For example: the picture would cut of a little bit of the bottom of the scroll on ESPN HD. I wanted to adjust that. I purchased a service manual of the web, which said that a 50H82 manual was identical.

After hours of adjusting, I couldn't get it the way I wanted it. The manual listed all of the stock adjusting items, so I put them back to what they were.

After that, and I don't know if this was there before I started or not, I went to the self check screen, and I got the same error as another gentlemen listed: "DVI NO 23009621 Err Code: 01". Also, for Block, the words "Main Sub" were in red. And to top that off, I lost my DVI option for video inputs. (I suspect that this has something to do with "OPT1" and "OPT2").

The funny part is, with the error, everything still looks good, minus the DVI of course.

What are the option codes for a 42H83? Does the service manual for a 42H83 and a 50H82 being the same sound strange? (the manual says nothing of DVI input).

Thanks!

I don't know what you

I don't know what you adjusted, as working with a service menu, without knowing what's what is a very dangerous thing to do. The alighnments you should have been looking for was Vertical Height, and Vertical Center, thats all. There should be, somewhere in the manual, a way to reset everything back to factory default. I would first go through before making any adjustents, and write down all of the values. I hope you can get this set working correctly again, and I wish you luck. Remember, for your problem, all you need to d, is do a minor adjustment on the Vertical Height and the Vertical Center. Let us know how you make out.

I was looking for those only,

I was looking for those only, but adjusting just those to the way I liked made the picture "bow". The lower scroll on ESPN HD had a little dip in the middle, which I was trying to get out. I couldn't get that out, so I went back to what the manual said.
