My Panasonic 36 HX40B [CT ap347] does not display a picture when you first turn it on [even though the volume works]. It takes about 5 Minutes for the picture to come on. It seems that the time with no picture is getting longer. What do you think it is? Is it repairable? Or does it mean new TV? Should I take it to a local repair shop?
Thanks
Rob W
This could be one or a combination of several problems. A bad solder connection, or componet on or around the high voltage transformer, a intermittant vertical sweep circuit, as in some sets, the video will blank if there is no vertical sweep, a problem in the video jungle IC or the cuircuit around the IC. Most likly a poor solder connection, as I have had a few of these sets that where full of bad or cold solder connections. With a set this age, its not really odd for this to happen to the connections, because of the heating up and cooling down of the printed circuit boards makes them flex. If you have no experience soldering or repairing solid state curcuits, please play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair, as it can be dangerous inside of a TV set if you dont have any formal experience or training. A repair such as this should not be an expensive one but is will depend on the age of the set and how well you like it. Maybe this will help you with your decision. Read This, Good Luck and please get back with us and let us know how you made out or what was the problem, as it could help someone else out.
hi, I was wondering, how are you supposed to know if you have a bad solder connection? can you tell by just looking at it? thanks
