My Sony 32" KV32V65 TV has developed a problem. When first turned on everything works fine. After about 5 minutes the picture starts flickering and finally diminises from top and bottom. Audio is still working. If I tap cabinet the picture will sometimes be restored for a few minutes and then go out again. This TV is about 8 years old and wonder if it is wise to try to repair it or just part it out to anyone looking for Sony parts? Any suggestions or tests will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Are you saying that the set loses its vertical on the screen, from top to bottom completly?? if you tap on it and it comes back, you have a bad solder connections somewhere in the veryical output section of the tV set. It could be just the Vertical output IC that has bad solder connection or a part in the circuit. If you know how to solder, your going to have to look at all the connections in that curcuit and resolder any that looks like they have a bad connection on them or have small tiny ring cracks around them. If you do not have any experience serviceing solid state electronics and or TV sets, please stay safe and have this looked at ASAP, as the longer you wait and hit the side of the TV set to correct a problem, the more it wil cost you in the long run.
