I have a Philips-Magnavox tv/vcr combo unit.Model CCA192AT31.I don't have the remote.I'm trying to disable the closed caption function with no success.HELP!
Im sorry to tell you, the only way to turn off the closed caption, is to pruchace an original remote. The closed caption funtion is in the remote menu . If you do not have an owners manual to see how to address this . please go to http://www.p4c.philips.com/na4/c/cca1...
Thank you Larry.I went to the owners manual link you posted and it explained how to access the menu with the front panel buttons.I got the captions turned off.Much appreciated.
Ok great im glad you went to the link and it helped you. I just learned something also. You CAN access the menu from the front panel. Most manufacturers you cannot. come visit and search around sometime, as we have lots to read and to explore here.
I really think the cc button on my remote is not activating something in the set. All the other buttons on the remote work. We bought a universal remote and all the buttons on that work except the cc. button.
interestingly, about a year after we bought the set the captions always came on when we turned on the set, and we had to use the remote to turn them off. now, that cc button doesn't work.
i suppose it could be that i need a philips remote, but since the universal works (except the cc button) i supsect something in the set. any thoughts?
Get a remote from a freind or someone, as the remote you have has a bad function. I have seen it a 10000000000 times. Ask around, as all you need to do is turn it off. Borrow one to turn it off. Or buy one.

I have a similar problem with my magnavox-phillips 32 inch tv.
